D\u00eda Internacional de la Lengua Materna<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

El D\u00eda Internacional de la Lengua Materna se conmemora cada a\u00f1o el 21 de febrero para promover la diversidad ling\u00fc\u00edstica y cultural, as\u00ed como el multiling\u00fcismo. El a\u00f1o 2025 marca el 25\u00ba aniversario de esta celebraci\u00f3n a nivel mundial. Este hito resalta un cuarto de siglo de esfuerzos dedicados a preservar la diversidad ling\u00fc\u00edstica y fomentar el uso de las lenguas maternas. Tambi\u00e9n reconoce que los idiomas y el pluriling\u00fcismo pueden favorecer la inclusi\u00f3n y contribuir al cumplimiento de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de las Naciones Unidas, bajo la premisa de que nadie debe quedarse atr\u00e1s. La UNESCO considera que la educaci\u00f3n basada en la lengua materna debe comenzar desde los primeros a\u00f1os, ya que la atenci\u00f3n y educaci\u00f3n en la primera infancia constituyen la base del aprendizaje.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seg\u00fan las Naciones Unidas, los idiomas tienen implicaciones fundamentales para la identidad, la comunicaci\u00f3n, la integraci\u00f3n social, la educaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo, lo que los convierte en un recurso estrat\u00e9gico para las personas y el planeta. Sin embargo, debido a los procesos de globalizaci\u00f3n, muchas lenguas est\u00e1n en peligro de extinci\u00f3n o desaparecen por completo. Cuando un idioma se desvanece, tambi\u00e9n se pierde una parte invaluable de la diversidad cultural del mundo. Las sociedades multiling\u00fces y multiculturales existen gracias a sus idiomas, que transmiten y preservan el conocimiento tradicional y las culturas de manera sostenible.

En el Colegio Rochester,\u00a0 valoramos el pluriling\u00fcismo y elegimos participar en esta conmemoraci\u00f3n global como parte de nuestro proyecto educativo y visi\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica. Este d\u00eda es una oportunidad para compartir, celebrar y fortalecer el aprendizaje y el desempe\u00f1o acad\u00e9mico. Durante la jornada, se llevan a cabo diversas actividades como presentaciones, exhibiciones, competencias saludables que fomentan el uso del conocimiento, conferencias con invitados especiales y otras experiencias dise\u00f1adas para celebrar y expandir el aprendizaje \u00fatil.Los padres de familia son nuestros invitados especiales en esta celebraci\u00f3n, ya que queremos que perciban el \u00e9xito y la calidad del aprendizaje de sus hijos. Este objetivo est\u00e1 alineado con una de las metas prioritarias de nuestra instituci\u00f3n: que cada estudiante se sienta seguro, amado, aprenda todo lo esperado y que sus padres lo perciban de la misma manera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Como parte de esta celebraci\u00f3n, los estudiantes tienen la oportunidad de ir m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del nivel de competencia y alcanzar niveles avanzados y\/o de maestr\u00eda en su aprendizaje. Esta iniciativa busca fomentar la creatividad y la innovaci\u00f3n en los estudiantes, adem\u00e1s de desarrollar y aplicar competencias de alto rendimiento en situaciones personales, locales y globales, desde una perspectiva multiling\u00fce, intercultural y de ciudadan\u00eda global.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International Mother Language Day is observed every year on February 21st to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The year 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of International Mother Language Day in the world. This milestone highlights a quarter-century of dedicated efforts to preserve linguistic diversity and promote the use of mother tongues. It recognizes that languages and plurilingualism  can advance inclusion, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals\u2019 focus on leaving no one behind. UNESCO believes education, based on the first language or mother tongue, must begin from the early years as early childhood care and education is the foundation of learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the United Nations, languages, with their complex implications for identity, communication, social integration, education and development, are of strategic importance for people and the planet. Yet, due to globalization processes, they are increasingly under threat, or disappearing altogether. When languages fade, so does the world’s rich tapestry of cultural diversity. Multilingual and multicultural societies exist through their languages which transmit and preserve traditional knowledge and cultures in a sustainable way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Rochester School, we value plurilingualism and choose to participate in this annual, global observance as part of our educational project and strategic intent. It is a day for sharing, celebrating and cultivating learning and performance. This day includes activities, such as presentations, exhibits, healthy competitions that promote the using of knowledge, guest speakers, and other ways to celebrate and grow useful knowledge. The parents, in particular, are our special guests, for whom this activity was designed because we want them to perceive the success and quality learning of their children. This aim is related to our school\u2019s high priority goal\u2014Every student feels safe, loved, learns all that is expected, and his\/her parents perceive it that way.<\/em> As part this celebration, students have the opportunity to go above and beyond competent level learning, and achieve advanced and\/or mastery level learning. This purpose strives to promote student creativity and innovation and developing and applying high- performing competencies to real-life personal, local, and global situations with a multilingual, intercultural, and global citizenship perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We invite you all to participate in this celebration of use of knowledge and quality learning!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
